Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis confirms an attack on Israel

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis have confirmed an attack on Israel, stating that it marks their first operation since the start of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. The group has signalled its readiness to escalate should hostilities against Iran and allied resistance factions intensify.

The Houthis said the attack was in response to recent strikes on civilian infrastructure and the loss of civilian lives across Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, and Palestine.

Analysts have since expressed concern that the Houthis’ involvement could broaden the conflict, given their ability to strike targets far beyond Yemen and disrupt key shipping lanes around the Arabian Peninsula and the Red Sea.

Media Review Network analyst Anwar Jhetam stated that the U.S. initiated an unprovoked assault on Iran during negotiations, believing that eliminating Iran’s leaders would hinder the country’s progress.
