United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says he could bring Israel to the ICJ for implementing the law that targets the organisation

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel could be brought before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) if it fails to revoke legislation targeting the UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) and does not restore confiscated assets and property.

Speaking to VOC News, Ahmed Jazbhay, an executive member of the Media Review Network, said Guterres is attempting “to bark bigger than his bite.”

“He could have taken Israel to the ICJ in 2024 when Israel banned UNRWA from operating in Israel. He could have overtly supported the case when South Africa took Israel to the ICJ, but he hasn’t done that,” Jazbhay said.
