Two men, aged 18 and 22, were shot and killed in the early hours of Monday morning in Kalksteenfontein.
According to police, the victims were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies on Buttercup Street.
Police spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk confirmed that officers in Bishop Lavis have opened two counts of murder following the incident.
“According to reports, three unidentified males approached the victims and randomly fired several shots before fleeing the scene. Crime scene experts are currently combing the area for clues,” Van Wyk said.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related, although this remains part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident comes amid the announcement that joint security operations are now active across parts of South Africa to combat rising crime.
Cyril Ramaphosa has called on communities to work together with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) in the fight against crime.
More than 2,200 SANDF members are set to be deployed across the country, including in the Western Cape, to assist in tackling gang violence. The deployment will run from March this year until March next year and is expected to cost more than R823 million.
