The Steenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF) has applauded a recent period of calm in the broader Muizenberg region.
Areas such as Lavender Hill, Overcome Heights, Vrygrond, and Seawinds have recently been affected by gang-related gun violence.
Lavender Hill ranks among the 13 areas with the highest number of gang-related homicides in South Africa. Speaking to VOC News, crime expert Chad Thomas said that the move serves as a “band aid” solution and does not address the underlying problems on the Cape Flats.
