As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the 2026 Spice Mecca Ramadan Souk is set to return, promising a vibrant celebration of food, culture and community in the heart of Cape Town.
Launching this year’s Ramadan Souk series, Spice Mecca founder Shreef Abbas said visitors can look forward to a wide range of offerings, including unique culinary experiences, prizes and giveaways, as well as family-friendly activities for all ages.
Abbas said this year’s theme places a strong emphasis on unity and upliftment.
“This year’s theme is really about community. It’s about community empowerment, community development, community support, community interaction and community collaboration. This is what it is all about,” he said.
The souk will take place over three weekends:
• 31 January – 1 February
• 7 – 8 February
• 14 – 15 February
The event will be hosted at 7 Induland Crescent, Lansdowne.
An entry fee of R20 will be charged, while pensioners and children under the age of 10 enter for free. Organisers confirmed that all entry fees will be donated to community projects.
This year’s event partners include:
• The Voice of the Cape (Media partner)
• Hilaal TV (Media partner)
• Jam Eyyatul Qurra (JEC)
• Primrose Rugby Club
Meanwhile, event organiser Salama Davids said the Ramadan Souk has become a much-anticipated fixture on Cape Town’s calendar, celebrated for its diversity and sense of belonging.
“It is something that Cape Town really looks forward to. What’s inspiring is that we attract people from all walks of life, because that’s the community of Cape Town. When we leave our country, we miss home — and that’s because you don’t find diversity and respect for each other’s cultures anywhere like you do in Cape Town. And that’s what comes out in this event,” she said.
