The South African Chin Woo Kung Fu Team, popularly known as “The #BlitzFus,” delivered an outstanding performance at the 21st Hong Kong International Wushu Kung Fu Championship, held from 21 to 23 March 2026 at the Ma On Shan Sports Centre.
Team South Africa finished in the top five out of 22 countries, winning a total of 13 medals: nine gold and four silver.
Under the leadership of world champion and World Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee Shifu Muhammad Junaid, the team overcame challenging preparation conditions during Ramadan, as well as ongoing turmoil in the Middle East.
“An excellent performance and team effort by the South African Jing Wu Kung Fu team, training under extreme and strenuous circumstances back home while observing Ramadan and travelling amidst international challenges. Placing in the top five out of 22 international teams is certainly noteworthy,” said Muhammad Junaid.
Star athletes delivered exceptional results. Muhammad Junaid claimed three gold medals in the Professional Adults Division, achieving the highest scores of any foreign competitor. Muhammad Saifullah Chafeker and Luqmaan Slarmie also excelled, each securing three gold and two silver medals across various events.
Team manager Salma Natalie Doran earned the Best Foreign Team Manager award, while Muhammad Junaid was officially appointed International Wushu Kung Fu Ambassador to promote the sport globally.
“This achievement highlights the dedication, discipline, and talent of our athletes. Dare to dream, dare to believe, dare to work hard, dare to achieve,” Muhammad Junaid added, urging youth across South Africa to be inspired.
