The South African National Parks (SANParks) has stated that the report by the Save Table Mountain Coalition on crime statistics at Table Mountain National Park is misleading. According to SANParks spokesperson JP Louw, no official crime statistics have been released. Louw added that objective public records show that, although crime at one of South Africa’s most visited landmarks increased earlier this year, rates have since stabilised at single-digit figures.
In an interview with VOC News on the PM Drive show, Louw refuted several allegations made against SANParks and highlighted specific claims he considered misleading.
