President Cyril Ramaphosa will undertake working visits to Ireland and Belgium this week to bolster trade, investment, and diplomatic relations with both nations. Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya confirmed that Ramaphosa will meet Irish President Michael Higgins and Prime Minister Micheál Martin tomorrow to deepen cooperation in key areas such as education, science, and investment.
Magwenya added that Ramaphosa will also participate in the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels on Thursday, hosted by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. “The European Union’s External Investment Strategy, Global Gateway, aims to boost smart, clean, and secure links in the digital, energy, and transport sectors, as well as to strengthen health, education, and research systems across the world,” said Magwenya.
The visit forms part of South Africa’s broader strategy to attract sustainable investment, expand trade opportunities, and reinforce partnerships that support innovation and inclusive economic growth on the African continent.
