Three suspects, aged 33, 34, and 37, are set to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court today following their arrest on Saturday at Ntutyana Street, Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha. They were apprehended for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, drugs, and stolen cellular phones.
Police spokesperson Captain F.C. van Wyk reported that members of the Public Order Police (POPS), while patrolling the area, observed a Toyota Auris parked in the middle of the street with three male occupants. The officers stopped the vehicle and conducted a search.
During the search, they discovered a firearm, six rounds of ammunition, eight mandrax tablets, and seven cellular phones, which are believed to be stolen. The occupants were unable to account for the items found in the vehicle.
