PSA Urges Independence as PIC Board Probes Continue

The Public Servants Association stated that calls to dissolve the Public Investment Corporation board are premature and risk undermining good governance. The union argues the board should be allowed to complete its investigations without political interference, following recent suspensions.

Speaking to VOC News, the Public Servants Association (PSA) spokesperson Claude Naiker says the PSA will continue to monitor developments closely and expects the PIC Board to act decisively and transparently in the best interests of members of the Government Employees Pension Fund and all other PIC clients.

“We need to establish exactly what the problems are and deal with them. If you remember couple of years ago. There was an commission that was established that basically undertook an investigation to look at systemic problems that PIC has been facing over the years and how has this surfaced because generally what happened was that a lot of investments that PIC made on behalf of GEPF turns sour in other words the returnment investment was not great, in some cases they have lost a lot of money, “said Naiker.
