Police Investigate Double Murder Following Lentegeur Shooting

Lentegeur police are investigating two counts of murder and one of attempted murder following a shooting incident in Mitchells Plain on Sunday evening.

According to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, officers responded to a complaint that led them to a house in Lobellia Street at approximately 9:10 PM. Upon arrival, they found the bodies of a man and a woman, both of whom had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“The victims were declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel. Another male who was injured was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made yet. The motive for this attack is part of the police investigation.”

SAPS has appealed to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or to report anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application.

Byron De Villiers from the Community Policing Forum (CPF) expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the two victims who were killed senselessly.

“We urge the community to come forward with any information about the individuals responsible for this tragic act. We also call on all authorities to implement strict measures to address and combat gang violence and drug abuse in our neighbourhood,” he said.
