The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has urged motorists to ensure their vehicle and driving licences are up to date ahead of the busy Easter weekend travel period.
According to the corporation, 700,399 vehicle licence discs are set to expire at the end of this month. In addition, more than 200,000 driving licence cards are also due for renewal.
RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane has encouraged motorists not to delay the process, warning that expired discs or licences could result in fines and unnecessary disruptions during the holiday period.
“Motorists who value convenience can renew their vehicle licence discs in the comfort of their home or office by using online.netis.gov.za,” Zwane said.
He added that the online system, managed through the National Traffic Information System (NaTIS), has already processed more than six million vehicle licence discs since its introduction in 2020, reflecting growing public confidence in the digital platform.
With increased traffic volumes expected over Easter, authorities are appealing to motorists to comply with all legal requirements and ensure their documentation is valid before embarking on their journeys.
