Muizenberg Police Probe Two Fatal Weekend Shootings

Muizenberg police have launched murder investigations following two separate shooting incidents that claimed the lives of a woman and a man over the weekend.

In the most recent incident, a 33-year-old woman was shot and killed, and another person injured, during a shooting in Frederick Street, Capricorn, on Sunday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk said officers were alerted to the scene at around 07:15:

“According to reports, police were alerted to a shooting incident at the mentioned address, and upon arrival, an adult male was found with multiple gunshot wounds and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A 33-year-old female was also found and declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel due to multiple gunshot wounds to her body. Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. The motive forms part of our police investigations.”

In a separate incident on Saturday evening, a 20-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Freedom Road, Overcome Heights.

“According to our reports, police were alerted to a shooting incident at the mentioned address and upon arrival found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The unknown suspects fled the scene and they are yet to be arrested. The motive for this attack is believed to be gang related,” said Captain Van Wyk.
