Motorists have been alerted to several hotspots in the Mother City, particularly along the N2 corridor, including areas near Khayelitsha, Philippi, and Nyanga, where concerns have been raised that the wall is not sufficient.
Speaking to VOC News, Councillor Emre Uygun explained which specific areas along the N2 corridor account for the highest rates of highway-related crime.
“Most of the reported incidents are coming from the Cape Town International Airport, which falls under the Nyanga area. We also had a few recorded incidents on the N1 – we have seen suspects coming out of informal settlements, pointing their firearms at female drivers,” explained Uygun.
