U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reiterated that there was an imminent threat from Iran.
On Sunday, in an interview with Bloomberg, Virginia Democrat and senior member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, U.S. Senator Mark Warner, argued that no imminent threat originated from Iran.
“What I know as a member of the Gang of Eight on the Intelligence Committee: there was no imminent threat to America,” the senator stated.
Rubio said that the U.S. had to strike first due to the imminent threat. He cited recommendations from the U.S. Department of War, which theorized that if Iran were attacked, even by another party, the United States would face heavy losses.
“There was absolutely an imminent threat. We knew that if Iran were attacked, even by someone else, they would immediately come after us, and we were not going to sit there and absorb a blow before we responded. The Department of War assessed that if we waited for them to hit us first, after they were attacked by someone else, we would suffer more casualties and deaths,” Rubio argued.
