The Malmesbury Muslim Society Mosque Management Committee has invited quotations from qualified contractors for a courtyard paving project aimed at improving the mosque’s facilities and enhancing accessibility for worshippers and the broader community.
The proposed development will focus on paving an area of approximately 820 square metres surrounding the mosque, which is currently being used as a parking area. According to Secretary of the Malmesbury Muslim Society, Uwais Adonis, the project is intended to maximise the use of the available space for both religious and community activities.
“So currently, our courtyard is about 820 square metres,” Adonis explained. “What we would like this area to be utilised for is to increase our parking facility at the masjid, whether it is for our daily salah, Jumu’ah, or Eid.”
He added that the paved courtyard would also create opportunities for future community events and fundraising initiatives.
“We are looking to host our annual mass iftar outside, and we’ll also be able to utilise this space for fundraising events at the masjid, like a mini bazaar or drive fundraiser,” he said.
Adonis noted that the paving project has already received partial financial support from members of the community. He said the committee is now seeking quotations from experienced contractors before deciding on the next phase of development.
“We have received a partial donation from a few Muslim brothers in the community and surrounding areas towards this paving initiative,” he said. “Contractors need to submit a quotation to the committee, and then we’ll look into that.”
The committee said the project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the mosque’s infrastructure and create a more functional environment for worshippers and community gatherings.
