Locals to stage march in support of Syria

By Nawaal Adams

As Syrians continue to exhibit every ounce of bravery and perseverance within them, the Muslim Judicial Council and Al Quds Foundation is preparing for a mass march in solidarity with the Syrian people. March coordinator,

Yunus Allie, stated that the application for the go ahead for the march was submitted on Monday. Thankfully, yesterday, the MJC was granted permission for the mass march to take place. Today all the written documents will be available to the MJC.

The march will take place on Thursday 22 December 2016 at 11am. The march will start from Keizersgracht, then going down Darling Street into Adderley Street, Spin Street and into Parliament.

The aim of the march is to hand over a memorandum to parliament. The memorandum will highlight the atrocities in Aleppo and urges all South Africans to unite and fight for Syria.
Allie stated that in the new year, MJC representatives will hand over the memorandum to the foreign minister.

All members of the community are urged to take part in the mass march on Thursday, and to show their support for Syria.  VOC
