Hijacked Vehicle Recovered After High-Speed Chase in Khayelitsha

Metro police officers successfully recovered a hijacked vehicle during a high-speed pursuit in Khayelitsha on Wednesday.

The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police spokesperson, Ruth Solomon, said the incident occurred shortly after 11 am, when officers on patrol noticed a grey Audi A6 ignoring a stop sign. The vehicle also had no front number plate, prompting the officers to initiate a traffic stop.

“After ignoring a red light at Govan Mbeki and Oscar Mpetha Roads, the driver lost control and crashed into a concrete fence. He did, however, manage to escape, along with his passenger. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Delft,” she said.

Despite the crash, both the driver and passenger managed to flee the scene.

Metro Police have urged anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward as investigations continue.
