“The exacerbating humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip necessitates urgent action to save civilians and bring in aid, tents, and mobile homes (caravans).”
This is according to the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. The statement comes as videos go viral on social media, depicting displaced Palestinians in despair as their tents flood amid the storm in the Gaza Strip.
“The tragic conditions endured by our Palestinian people after two years of genocidal war in the Gaza Strip—marked by the lack of food, medicine, clean water, tents, and shelter supplies, and the collapse of the health system—pose a real danger to the lives of defenceless civilians, including children and women, particularly during the winter season with its heavy rains,” stated Hamas.
The resistance group further condemned the Israeli government and its military forces, asserting that they are responsible for the deteriorating conditions due to ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement and obstruction of humanitarian and relief aid delivery.
“We call on the agreement’s guarantor states to pressure the occupation to compel it to implement the humanitarian protocol, open the crossings – especially the Rafah crossing – to allow the entry of relief and medical aid, tents, and emergency shelter supplies, and to permit the exit of patients and the movement of individuals in both directions,” said Hamas.
“We reaffirm that the continued state of international silence and inaction in the face of the ongoing crimes of the fascist occupation in Gaza threatens to deepen the humanitarian tragedy for more than two million besieged Palestinians who are deprived of the most basic life necessities as a result of the brutal genocide,” added the resistance group.
