“The resolution does not meet the political and humanitarian demands and rights of our Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which has endured a brutal genocidal war and unprecedented crimes committed by the occupation over the past two years in front of the entire world—the effects and repercussions of which continue, despite the declaration of the war’s end under President Trump’s plan.”
This statement comes from the Palestinian resistance group Hamas in response to the United Nations (UN) Security Council’s adoption of the U.S. draft resolution on Gaza.
“It also imposes a mechanism to achieve the occupation’s objectives, which it failed to accomplish through its brutal genocide. Furthermore, this resolution isolates the Gaza Strip from the rest of Palestinian territory and seeks to impose new realities that contradict our people’s principles and legitimate national rights,” Hamas said.
Hamas added that resisting the occupation is a legitimate right guaranteed under international law and conventions.
“The weapons of the resistance are tied to the existence of the occupation, and any discussion regarding the weapons file must remain an internal national matter connected to a political path that ensures the end of the occupation, the establishment of the state of Palestine, and self-determination,” the resistance reiterated.
