George police have launched a manhunt for suspects who are involved in the fatal shooting of two men in Thembalethu on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Christopher Spies says a double murder docket was opened for further police investigation.

“According to reports available, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at about 18:00, Thembalethu police members responded to a shooting in Tawule Street, Zone 9, Thembalethu, George. Upon arrival, the members found the body of a man in the street. The members were further directed to the body of another man who had collapsed in a yard in Yawani Street. Both victims, aged 43 and 31, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared deceased by paramedics at the scene,” said Spies.

Spies said the suspects are still at large.

“Crime scene experts combed the scene for clues, and several cartridges were found. The motive for the killings is yet to be established. This forms part of the ongoing police investigation,” he said.
