Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola stated yesterday that the United States’ attempts to interfere in South Africa’s domestic issues have led to relations between the two nations reaching an all-time low. This tension coincides with discussions regarding a 30% tariff, the highest imposed on any sub-Saharan African country, which is set to take effect on certain South African exports this Friday.
Speaking to VOC News, Emmanuel Matambo, Research Director at the Centre for African China Studies at the University of Johannesburg, provided further insights on the matter.
