Flooding and Accidents Disrupt Traffic Across Cape Town

The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services are responding to multiple weather-related incidents following heavy rainfall this week.

Traffic Services spokesperson Maxine Bezuidenhout confirmed several disruptions on major routes. “On the M3, a truck overturned at Upper Travato Link, resulting in multiple injuries and obstruction of the right lane,” she said.

“Additionally, another truck broke down at Hospital Bend inbound on the M3, also blocking the right lane.”

Flooding has also been reported on key roads. “The N2 outbound between Mowbray Main Road and Liesbeeck Parkway has a flooded right lane. Flooding has also affected the left lane on the Stellenbosch Arterial eastbound at Robert Sobukwe,” added Bezuidenhout.

“We advise road users to be patient, allow extra travel time, and drive with headlights on at all times. Please maintain a safe following distance as these conditions are likely to impact traffic flow,” she urged.
