Eleven nabbed for drug possession on the Cape Flats

Eleven people have been arrested for drug possession in Manenberg and Hanover Park on the Cape Flats.

The arrest was a joint operation between SAPS Operation Combat and Metro Police’s Gang and Drug Task Team.

Mayco member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says officers were acting on intelligence after a spike in violence and conducted a raid on Friday night at hotspots.

Smith says drugs such as Tik were confiscated.

“Metro Police alone arrested 11 people all for drugs with a combination of stop-and-search operations targeting specific premises based on crime intelligence that they’d obtained. These arrests will be processed for court appearances. It was a reasonable amount of drugs.”
