The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Level 2 yellow warning for damaging waves and strong winds as another cold front is set to hit the Western Cape from Friday.
According to SAWS forecaster Henning Grobler, the warning applies particularly to the coastline stretching from Saldanha Bay to Plettenberg Bay, with the hazardous conditions expected to begin on Thursday afternoon.
“We have a yellow level 2 warning out for damaging waves resulting in difficulty navigating at sea, and small vessels are at risk of taking in water and capsizing,” said Grobler.
The alert is expected to extend further up the coast to Alexander Bay by Friday afternoon into the evening, prompting authorities to urge caution for small craft and coastal communities.
