The streets of Bo-Kaap will be filled with residents across the Mother City coming together to break bread in a show of unity during the annual Quds Day iftar. People of all ethnicities and religions are welcome to join the mass iftar between Rose and Wale streets in Bo-Kaap from 18:00 to 21:15.
Osman Shaboodien, a member of the Bo-Kaap Palestinian Committee, said the iftar will begin immediately after the Quds Day march, and residents are encouraged to participate once the march concludes.
“We encourage people to bring treats and share whatever they have, as people from various communities—not only Bo-Kaap—will be joining the iftar immediately after the march. Salah (prayer) mats will be laid out in the streets, and attendees are encouraged to come prepared for ablution,” Shaboodien said.
