Cape Town Tourism Launches Data Skills Workshops

Cape Town Tourism is set to launch a series of Destination Intelligence workshops aimed at helping tourism and hospitality businesses make better use of the data they already collect.

The initiative follows a recent member engagement session, which revealed that while many businesses gather valuable customer and operational data, only a small portion is analysed and used to guide decision-making.

Cape Town Tourism Chief Executive Officer Enver Duminy said the workshops will provide members with practical skills to turn everyday business information into meaningful insights that can improve marketing, operations and overall competitiveness.

“We often think we need more data, yet most businesses already have valuable information right in front of them. The challenge is knowing how to use it,” said Duminy.

He explained that the workshops are designed to help tourism operators transform booking, visitor and customer data into smarter business decisions.

“Better data doesn’t just benefit individual operators. It helps us build a stronger, more competitive destination,” he added.

Cape Town Tourism believes that empowering businesses to use data more effectively will strengthen the city’s tourism sector and support sustainable growth across the industry.
