Calls are mounting for the Republic of Ireland to skip a UEFA Nations League match against Israel later this year

Several prominent Irish footballers, along with celebrities, have launched a campaign urging the Republic of Ireland to boycott an upcoming UEFA Nations League match against Israel.

The campaign group Irish Sport for Palestine has submitted an open letter to the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), alleging that Israel has committed “genocide” during the Gaza conflict and has violated UEFA and FIFA regulations by allowing teams to compete on land regarded as occupied Palestinian territory.

Speaking to VOC News, sports analyst and political commentator Naazeem Adam shared his input on the matter.
