VOC News has been alerted to a shooting incident involving people in a vehicle, where one person was allegedly killed in the back seat at the intersection of Dewet and Ottery Road last night.
A confidential informant, who is also a close friend of the victim, informed VOC News that he was in the process of selling his cell phone when an alleged robbery attempt failed.
“He was going to sell his cell phone because he needed cash to finish his place, as he was supposed to get married next Saturday. He was loved by everyone and would always go above and beyond to help, even though he never had much, but he would give his last,” said a close friend of the victim.
However, this highlights the rising violence in the Cape Flats, the easy availability of firearms, leading to the deaths of innocent people. Speaking to VOC News, Abbie Isaacs, Chairperson of the Cape Flats Safety Forum, provided additional details.
*VOC News reached out to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for a statement, but no reply has been provided.
