The murder case of 89-year-old Ellen Malan from Tafelsig has remained unresolved for over a year, with forensic delays leaving her family without answers. Action Society has now escalated the matter to the DNA Board and SAPS leadership, demanding urgent accountability.
Kaylynn Palm, Head of Action Society’s Action Centre in the Western Cape, told VOC News:
“Basically, it’s been exactly a year since the death of Ellen Malan. She was a well-known auntie and granny in Tafelsig, brutally killed inside her own home and bed. Yet, there has been no arrest in this case. It’s been a back-and-forth situation with SAPS, trying to get information. DNA samples and fingerprints were taken, people were called in for questioning, but a year later, there’s still no progress. The family is left in limbo, still waiting for SAPS to provide concrete answers.”
