A powerful artistic tribute titled “Shakespeare to Gaza” takes place in Cape Town

A significant artistic tribute named Shakespeare to Gaza occurred on Saturday 13 December 2025, in Cape Town, uniting artists who answered a worldwide plea to amplify the Gaza Monologues. Motivated by a work composed during the siege in Ramallah — “From Gaza to Shakespeare” — the performance interlaced Shakespearean pieces with Palestinian voices as a demonstration of solidarity, resistance, and remembrance. Every artist participated voluntarily, with proceeds going to the humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers.

Speaking to VOC News, Megan Choritz from South African Jews for a Free Palestine said people were amplified in emotions and that people were rather “moved” by the event.
