Following the announcement by Hamas of the killing of its senior commander Raed Saad in an Israeli strike in Gaza on Saturday, 13 December 2025, Hamas’s Gaza leader Khalil al-Hayya said Israel was violating the ceasefire agreement.
Speaking to VOC News, Naeem Jeena, senior researcher at Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflections and Middle Eastern analyst, said the move is no surprise because “Israelis have been violating the ceasefire agreement from day one.”
“The aid that was supposed to go into Gaza has been severely restricted – the agreement was that 600 trucks would go in a day, and only around 200 are allowed,” said Jeena.
“Not only is there no ceasefire being maintained, but the genocide is continuing,” added Jeena.
