A DRC cyclist pedaling for peace: “I cannot remain silent after witnessing the suffering of my people”

In honour of Women’s Month, Miguel Masaisai, a cyclist advocating for peace and unity from the war-stricken Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), spoke on VOC’s airwaves. Masaisai shared his fitness journey and the inspiration behind it all. He stated that his main motivation is the pain his people experience in the DRC.

“I cannot remain silent after witnessing the suffering of my people. I thought about how I could use sport to create awareness. I have my bike and my legs, and I am healthy, so I can use my fitness to promote peace in my country,” Masaisai stated.
