The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) recently responded to a drowning incident involving a 24-year-old man along the lagoon shoreline in Plettenberg Bay. According to initial reports, bystanders recovered the man from underwater after several eyewitnesses raised the alarm.
“The NSRI team, together with doctors and medics, responded to the scene and assisted with CPR efforts led by a British doctor who happened to be nearby and volunteered her assistance. Despite extensive attempts to resuscitate the man, he was sadly declared deceased,” said NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon.
Lambinon added that the man’s body was taken into the care of the South African Police Service and Government Health Forensic Pathology Services. An inquest docket has been opened.
