Firefighters are on scene in Salt River where six informal dwellings have caught alight.
Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse confirmed the fire broke out along the Main road and Browning Road in Observatory.
Firefighters are on scene, working to contain the blaze.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is unknown.
