“We condemn the US and Israel’s illegal, unprovoked war on Iran. It is a campaign of military aggression that is causing civilian deaths, destruction, and regional instability, while undermining Iranian sovereignty to reassert the control of US imperialism and Zionism over energy, trade routes, and finance. This forms part of a broader pattern of imperialist and Zionist intervention across West Asia, which imperils world peace.”
This is according to the civil society group Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and the coalition “Unite Against Imperialism and Zionism,” which comprises more than 40 political, labour, faith-based, student, youth, women’s, and community organisations in Cape Town.
“The coalition has emerged to resist escalating wars, genocide, and economic coercion worldwide. We condemn the US and Israel’s illegal, unprovoked war on Iran,” the PSC said in its statement.
“It is a campaign of military aggression that is causing civilian deaths, destruction, and regional instability, while undermining Iranian sovereignty to reassert the control of US imperialism and Zionism over energy, trade routes, and finance,” it added.
Speaking to VOC News, the PSC’s spokesperson, Professor Usuf Chikte, called on the people of Cape Town to take a stand as various civil society groups gathered on Friday, 10 April 2026, outside the US Consulate at 2 Reddam Avenue in Tokai to mobilise against what he described as ongoing US and Israeli aggression.
