The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service responded to a vegetation fire reported on Monday afternoon along Philip Kgosana Drive near Vredehoek.
Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said crews from Roeland Street, Salt River, Constantia and Brooklyn were dispatched to the scene. Three helicopters were deployed to water-bomb the area, assisting firefighters in containing the head of the blaze.
“No property is in danger at this stage, and no injuries have been reported. Crews from the City and Table Mountain National Park will remain on site until the fire is extinguished, after which periodic inspections will be conducted to monitor for hotspots and potential flare-ups,” Carelse said.
Authorities confirmed that monitoring operations will continue to prevent any reignition.
