SASSA dismisses false claims that R370 SRD grant is ending

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has dismissed a viral social media post claiming that the R370 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is coming to an end.

SASSA clarified on X that the post, which has been widely shared on TikTok, did not originate from the agency. The image was presented as a “public notice” suggesting that the SRD grant was temporary and that funding was not guaranteed.

“The information shared is false and does not come from SASSA,” the agency stated, warning the public not to rely on unverified posts circulating online.

To highlight the misinformation, SASSA shared a screenshot of the TikTok post and emphasized that any official announcements regarding social grants are made only through verified government channels, including the agency’s website and official media briefings.

The SRD grant, which provides temporary financial assistance to vulnerable South Africans, continues to be disbursed to eligible recipients.
