The City has confirmed that two Law Enforcement Advancement Programme (LEAP) officers were arrested in Parow after allegedly demanding a R3 000 bribe. According to reports, when the vehicle occupant was unable to pay the amount immediately, the officers allegedly arranged to collect the money at a later stage.
“It is alleged that on the evening of Monday, 5 January 2026, the officers pulled over a motorist in Parow who was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The motorist was also unable to produce a driver’s licence and was driving an unlicensed motor vehicle,” said Law Enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason.
“The complainant then approached the SAPS Anti-Corruption Unit, which subsequently arrested the two officers during the handover last night,” he added.
Dyason expressed deep disappointment over the incident and affirmed that the City will not tolerate such behaviour. He said the City will cooperate fully with SAPS in their investigation.
