Following reports of multiple structures alight in Site 5, Dunoon, which broke out earlier this morning, the Fire and Rescue Service responded, supported by various City resources on the scene.
“Helicopters are water-bombing the flames, which are being fanned by strong south-easterly winds. Public order policing resources have been deployed to assist, as firefighters were assaulted by members of the community,” said Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Jermaine Carelse.
“One firefighter has been taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment for heat exhaustion,” he added.
