Table Mountain National Park has strengthened safety measures, including enhanced firefighting capacity and the use of drone technology to support patrols and emergency responses.
Park Manager Megan Taplin said the initiatives are not limited to the festive season, noting that visitor numbers, both local and international are already higher than last year.
Taplin added that there has been a marked drop in safety incidents since June, along with an increase in arrests, contributing to improved safety across the park’s extensive trail network.
“The safety and security efforts that we’ve been beefing up over the past year are not just to do with the festive season. We’ve been running awareness campaigns to make sure people understand all the safety tips and the routes to take. We do also ask people to take care of their own safety,” Taplin said.
Authorities encourage visitors to remain vigilant and follow park guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience while exploring the natural beauty of Table Mountain.
