Several pro-Palestine members engaged in a peaceful protest earlier today in solidarity with the hunger strikers in the UK

Several pro-Palestine members engaged in a peaceful protest on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, at the British Council in Randburg, Johannesburg, an organization responsible for fostering cultural and educational exchanges on behalf of the British government in South Africa.

A member of South African Jews for a free Palestine, Jared Sacks, told VOC News that the show of solidarity comes as hunger strikers in the UK, who have been on hunger strike for 52 days, are being deprived of fair, transparent, and timely trials.

“We want to ensure that our voices in South Africa are being heard and that we will not stand for the mistreatment of pro-Palestine members and deeming the Palestine Action as terrorists. These are peaceful protesters engaging in civil disobedience and have no right to be treated this way,” stated Sacks.

“The British government should be ashamed of itself, and the protest is our right and responsibility to support other people who have been deprived of their human rights,” added Sacks.
