International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola has confirmed the safe arrival of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists in Jordan. South African Ambassador Tselane Mokuena was on hand to receive the delegation on behalf of the country.
Minister Lamola expressed the government’s gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful outcome through their cooperation and support. The delegation is scheduled to arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Gauteng on Wednesday morning.
“Dr. Fatima Hendricks, Manda Mandela, Reaaz Moola, Carolyn Shelver, Dr. Zaheer Suma, and Zukiswa Wenner were all involved in a noble cause for humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. We continue to call for all fights to cease and for all bombardment of civilian infrastructure to stop,” Lamola said.
The activists’ mission was to deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza and raise international awareness about the escalating humanitarian crisis in the region.
