On day five of the Global Sumud Flotilla’s journey through international waters, South African delegate Fazel Behra told VOC News that the delegation is currently in Tunisia.
On Thursday night, 4 September, the group attended a program at a local mosque to commemorate Moulud.
Behra explained, “If not tomorrow, then on Sunday, 7 September 2025, we will set sail for the shores of Gaza. However, we have concerns for our safety, as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir have indicated they plan to detain us on charges of terrorism.”
He stressed, “How is it possible that humanitarian activists intending to deliver aid to Gaza are being labeled as terrorists?”
