“In a complex war crime added to Israel’s bloody record of massacres against our Palestinian people, the criminal Zionist occupation army bombed Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, resulting in an initial death toll of 15 civilians – most of them journalists, medical staff, and civil defence personnel – in a further escalation of the genocide it continues to commit against our people in Gaza.”
This is according to the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. The statement follows escalated Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and Gaza City. Hamas noted that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government disregarded international laws and humanitarian conventions by targeting civilian medical facilities and assassinating journalists and medical personnel.
Hamas expressed condemnation towards the killing of journalists Hussam Al-Masri, Muhammad Salama, Maryam Abu Daqqa, and Muath Abu Taha. The resistance group stated that the journalists were covering the bombing of the Nasser Hospital and has labelled their killing as a “war crime” and a “horrific massacre”.
“The cowardly enemy aims through this to deter journalists from conveying the truth and from covering war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and the catastrophic living conditions of our Palestinian people in Gaza resulting from the systematic starvation policy that war criminal Netanyahu insists on deepening and exacerbating, in brazen defiance of international will,” reiterated the resistance group.
