Police launch manhunt after another fatal Mitchells Plain Shooting

Police have launched a manhunt following a deadly shooting in Portlands, Mitchells Plain, on Wednesday evening that left two people dead.

SAPS spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Mitchells Plain police registered two counts of murder after an incident at Golden Gate, in the area around 18:53.

“An unidentified male in his 40s was shot and fatally wounded, while a 24-year-old woman was also injured. The injured victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment, where she later died due to injuries sustained,” Van Wyk said.

Van Wyk said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found the male victim lying with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

The circumstances and motive behind the shooting remain under investigation, and no arrests have yet been made.

Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information.

“Anyone with information about this incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS App. Information will be treated as highly confidential,” Van Wyk added.
