Three suspects are expected to appear in the Simonstown Magistrates’ Court on charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, while an 18-year-old woman faces charges of dealing in liquor without a valid permit.
Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation aimed at tackling crime contributors in the area. Acting on credible information, officers tactically approached a residence in Masiphumelele.
“Upon entering the house, they found two males and a female. A search ensued, leading to the recovery of a 9mm pistol, a .38 special revolver, and ammunition,” Swartbooi said.
The men, aged 27 and 23, were detained on firearm-related charges.
According to Swartbooi, the woman became restless during the operation, prompting further inspection.
“Police members noticed a consignment of alcohol hidden on the premises. The 18-year-old could not produce a valid licence, resulting in her arrest for dealing in liquor without a permit,” he added.
