Nyanga Sub-District to host Silencing the Gun Campaign in Manenberg

By Rachel Mohamed

The Nyanga Sub-District, in partnership with the Community Policing Forum, SAPS, and local government, is set to host a “Silencing the Gun” event at Phoenix High School in Manenberg this Saturday, 9 August, from 10 am to 3 pm. The campaign aims to combat gun violence in the Cape Flats community.

Speaking to VOC News, Reginald Maart, Chair of the Delft CPF and Nyanga Sub-District Public Relations Officer (PRO), emphasized the ongoing issue of gun violence in the province.

“When we look at the province, particularly the police stations in the Nyanga sub-district, we are confronted with rampant gun violence. Guns have become one of the primary weapons used, and unfortunately, many of our youngsters and community members are dying daily as a result,” he stated.

“Our goal is to demonstrate that we are tired of gun violence in our community, and we want to silence the gun.”
