Police have launched an investigation following a carjacking incident in Athlone on Tuesday.
According to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Wesley Twigg, the incident took place in a parking area near a supermarket and medical facility.
“According to reports, the victim was sitting in her vehicle when she was approached by three unknown suspects who threatened her with a firearm and fled the scene with her white Opel. We can confirm that no shots were fired,” said Twigg.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tip-offs can be made anonymously via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS mobile application.
