2 die on WCape roads

A pedestrian has died after crossing the N2 near the Mew Way exit near Khayelitsha. City traffic spokesperson, Maxine Bezuidenhout, says the deceased is believed to be about 35 years old. The right hand lane of the N2 outbound was closed for some time to give officials an opportunity to clear the scene. It has since been reopened. She says the driver was tested for alcohol and it was found to be negative.
Meanwhile, a driver of a Corsa bakkie died and five others were seriously injured when he has lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a taxi in Somerset West. Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says five of the occupants in the taxi, including the driver, suffered significant injuries. Three were airlifted to Tygerberg Hospital, while two were rushed to Hottentots Holland hospital in an ambulance.
